The Blue Hat Bow Tie Weekend Campaign, organized by Global Colon Cancer Association and implemented by Niola Cancer Care Foundation was held at the Fountain of Life Church in Lagos, Nigeria and Redeem Christain church of God, Temple of praise parish, Lagos to commemorate Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. This report outlines the objectives, activities, outcomes, and recommendations of the campaign.


OBJECTIVES
• To raise awareness on colorectal cancer to the congregation and the public and its importance in early detection and prevention.
• To engage the congregation of Fountain of Life Church/ Redeem Christian church and the public at large in supporting individuals affected by colorectal cancer
• To promote the Blue Hat Bow Tie symbol as a visual representation of solidarity and support for colorectal cancer awareness.


ACTIVITIES


1. Pre-Campaign Planning:
Coordination with Fountain of Life Church leadership/ Redeem Christian church to secure approval and support for the campaign.
Printing of promotional materials, including flyers, posters, and publicity on our social media pages. Ensuring volunteers assist with campaign logistics and activities.

2. Implementation
Onsite setup of campaign booth at Fountain of Life Church premises.
Distribution of 147 blue hats and 40 bow ties to the interested members.
Educational presentations and interactive sessions on colorectal cancer awareness, prevention, and early detection this was anchored by Eniola Akintunde and Temitope Salako and an attendance of 270 people was recorded.

OUTCOME

1. Increased Awareness: The campaign successfully raised awareness about colorectal cancer among Fountain of Life Church/ Redeem Christain church members, with over 200 people expressing interests in learning more about the disease and its risk factors.

2. Community Engagement: The campaign fostered meaningful engagement and dialogue within the church community, encouraging open conversations about cancer prevention and support.


3. Symbolic Gesture: The sight of church members wearing blue hats and bow ties, blue dresses served as a powerful visual symbol of support and solidarity for colorectal cancer awareness.
